For a relatively young sport on the world stage, Touch Football / Touch Rugby is continuously growing around the world – 54 plus countries (as at 2024) and millions of players.
It requires a 70×50 metre field (or thereabouts), some players, and a ball for a social game. In Australia and elsewhere Touch has grown organically due to it’s ease of play, minimum equipment requirements, night or day, wide range of ages, and catering for both genders and mixed games.
Like any sport, at an organised and more competitive level it needs more in the way of facilities and non-players – referees, administrators etc.
Touch is a family or serious sport that is easy to learn, easy to play, safer than other sports, but also can be as professional like in skill level and commitment as any other sport.
The Federation of Touch is the world governing body and assists all countries in the development of our sport. (Created in Australia in 1985.)
