Brisbane (Queensland)

1973: The first Queensland touch football competition was the Brisbane Touch Football Association (BTFA). Read the details here: Brisbane Touch Football Association

1974: A second competition started in Brisbane – the South Queensland Touch Football Association (SQTFA)  which is now Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association. (SQTFA then MTFA now BMTA)

From 1978 to ???? a Public Service Touch competition ran with both men’s and ladies teams.

Qld Uni Touch Association – from 1984 – managed competitions played at Qld Uni

North Brisbane Touch Association was established by Morey Creed in the 1980s until it was merged with Brisbane Metropolitan Touch.

Since 1992, Aboriginal players have participated in a weekend knockout event of Touch Football as part of the First Contact Sports and Cultural Festival. It is one of Australia’s largest Aboriginal events and brings together the best Aboriginal touch footballers. It is held in Brisbane and was founded by Robbie Williams (d).

Since 1986, the Qld Police Sporting Association (QPSA) has run it’s own competitions of touch, along with other sports in regular events. The police have also entered teams in other competitions.

Social and park touch  There are many social or park touch games played in a variety of places around Brisbane. Some with very little rules.
