1973The earliest interstate clash occurred when a Brisbane Touch Association representative team played a NSW (South Sydney) team in Sydney.

1974The South Queensland Touch Football Association was established – later to become the Metropolitan Touch Football Association (MTFA).
1975Women’s touch started in Ballina NSW
1976The first unofficial test was played between Australian and New
Zealand in 1976 in Auckland.
In 1985 the first official test v NZ was held at South Melbourne Cricket ground.
1977First Queensland (SEQTFA) night competition played.
1978The Australian Touch Football Association (ATA) was formed in November.

1985Brisbane City Touch Association (BCTA) formed from part of SEQ Touch Association

1987Brisbane Metropolitan Touch Association (BMTA) was formed by merging the Brisbane Touch Association and the Metropolitan Touch Football Association

1994World Masters games – Touch Football played at Whites Hill, Brisbane – largest competition played to date – 6 days of touch.
2005ATA restructure and changed name to Touch Football Australia (TFA)
2013Sept, NRL collaboration with TFA
2023From July 1st Touch Football Australia adopts new membership model – an annual national registration and payment of $22 for participants direct with TFA. (team based affiliation at local and State level continues less the TFA fee)
